What is boudoir?
"Boudoir" has a really interesting origin, actually. Apparently, "the word 'boudoir' is derived from the French verb bouder, 'to sulk'." Is that why it's supposed to look sexy when you're moody/sulky??
It took on its contemporary meaning during the 1920s, when boudoir photography was illegal but..obviously still happening. Kinda like prohibition!..
During the 70s, boudoir again surged in popularity as a result of the feminist movement which encouraged woman to celebrate their sexuality and womanhood. Since the 70s and 80s, boudoir photography has evolved and become widely popular.
Why do I love boudoir?
Boudoir photography really inspires me. As a young woman growing up during the EXPLOSION of social media, I understand the complicated relationship women can have with their bodies. I think it is so important and empowering to unapologetically feeeeel yo'self and get some sexy pictures! I am SO hyped the entire time I do boudoir sessions because from my perspective, I see just how amazing you are and I want you to share in that, too! I love the moment when I see a boudoir client crack their shell and let go. Let out a big sigh and a belly laugh and pop her booty! I see you GLOW and I want you to see yourself that way, too, sister.
